Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi donned the role of a street fighter on Tuesday as he staged a sit-in protest outside Parliament against the ‘U-turns’ of the Narendra Modi government on issues ranging from bringing back black money to incursions by Chinese troops into Indian territory.
Led by Rahul, Congress members gathered near the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Parliament premises and waved copies of a booklet “Chhe Mahine Paar, U-Turn Sarkar” released by the party on Monday.
“They took a U-turn on every issue. They have taken a U-turn on black money; they have taken a U-turn on CAG; on corruption. They never did whatever they said,” Rahul said.
Rahul was flanked by senior leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Kamal Nath, Jyotiraditya Scindia, K C Venugopal, Deepender Hooda among others.
The Congress said the latest somersaults of the Modi government have been on the nuclear liability law and the boundary agreement with Bangladesh. AICC general secretary had said the BJP had already reversed its stand on making public the Henderson Brooks report on the 1962 war as well as its assertions on discontinuing Aadhaar.
