BJP prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi may have avoided the contentious Ram Temple issue at his election rally in Faizabad on Monday, but a banner on the stage backdrop depicting a model of it, along with a picture of Lord Ram, has landed him in trouble.

Modi in his speech, however, did refer to “Ram Rajya”, which he said even Mahatma Gandhi endorsed as “an answer to the problems of the people”.

The stage banner invited the wrath of the Election Commission (EC), which has sought a report from the district magistrate of Faizabad, according to sources here.
Modi later addressed election rallies at Ambedkar Nagar, Jaunpur and Amethi.
