Traffic is likely to be affected in some parts of New Delhi due to the Republic Day parade rehearsals this week, the traffic police said on Monday.

The rehearsals for the January 26 parade will begin on Tuesday, and will be held on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. It will start from Vijay Chowk and end at India Gate.

“In order to facilitate the uninterrupted movement of parade, some restrictions will be enforced on the movement of traffic crossings at Rafi Marg, Janpath and Mansingh Road. These restrictions shall remain in force from 9:45 am till 12 noon,” said Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic). He cautioned the public regarding congestion.

“Motorists are requested to have patience, follow road discipline and directions of traffic police personnel deployed at all intersections. People are also requested to plan their journey to avoid inconvenience,” Garg said.
