The Brazilian football federation has decided to sack Luiz Felipe Scolari after the national team's fourth-place finish in the recently concluded 2014 FIFA World Cup, reports media.

Globo TV and other Brazilian news media outlets reported Monday that Scolari, who led Brazil to the 2002 World Cup win, was sacked by the Brazilian football body, CBF, after the national team's failure to win the World Cup at home.

After the 0-3 thrashing by the Netherlands in the third-place play-off, Scolari had said that it was up to the CBF to decide whether he should carry on as the Brazil coach.

Globo said the CBF would make an announcement later in the day. CBF vice-president Delfim Peixoto reportedly told media that Scolari will not stay on as coach.
