The opposition to the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project, besides Nanar mega refinery and Jaitapur nuclear power project in coastal Konkan region, would continue, Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray said.

"Bullet train for whom...how fast you would travel in that," Thackeray said opposing the pet project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In an interview to Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on the eve of his 59th birthday, Uddhav spoke on a wide range of issues.

The first part of the three-part interview was published in the Sena's Marathi mouthpiece 'Saamana' and its Hindi tabloid version 'Dophar ka Saamana' besides being webcast on www.saamana.com.

"First they took the diamond market to Gujarat, then Air India (to New Delhi)...how many people from Mumbai need a bullet train to Ahmedabad...instead connect Mumbai to Nagpur," Uddhav said.

The Sena chief said the Jaitapur Nuclear Power Project (JNPP) at Madban and the West Coast Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (WCRP) at Nanar - both in Rajapur tehsil of Ratnagiri district - are not required for the state.

"These projects would damage the environment of Konkan Maharashtra," he said.
