Sikh bodies including Dal Khalsa, SAD (Panch Pardani) and Damdami Taksal sought the removal of Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia from the post of ViceChancellor of Guru Granth Sahib World University on Saturday.

A four-member delegation submitted a protest letter addressed to SGPC president and chancellor Avtar Singh Makkar. The delegation members Kanwar Pal Singh, Harpal Singh Cheema, Mohkam Singh and SGPC member Kulbir Singh Barapind handed a copy of the letter to Makkar's office.

The letter described Ahluwalia as a controversial personality. He was charged for molesting a female student during his stint as VC, Panjab University. Sikh leaders said he was not fit for the post. “It is inevitable that deep religious sanctity is associated with the university as the name of the University is in the name of Guru Granth Sahib,” the letter said.
