Sisters drown in pond

Two sisters fell into a pond and drowned at Mundka in west Delhi on Tuesday.

Police said Muskan, 7, and Bhavana, 11, resident of Tikri village, had come to Sai Baba Temple along with their grandfather and mother to offer prayer. Around 7 pm, they went to the pond to take water for the puja. Muskan and Bhavana, while playing around slipped and drowned.

Police rushed them to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where doctors declared them bought dead. The bodies were handed over to the family after post-mortem on Wednesday.

“We have questioned various people present in the area about the incident. There was no foul play. It was just an accident,” said a senior police officer.

Muskan and Bhavana – daughters of Devendra, a farmer in Narela – stayed with their grandfather in Tikri village, said the officer.
