Congress president Rahul Gandhi launched a blistering attack on the RSS for the attack on a Dalit youth in Gujarat, the killing of anti-Sterlite protestors in police firing in Tamil Nadu and the Modi government's attempts to manipulate the civil services merit list using subjective criteria.

Rahul's salvo against the RSS came after 11 people were killed as Tamil Nadu police opened fire on protesters demanding the closure of the Sterlite's copper smelting plant citing pollution concerns.

"Tamils are being brutally killed because they are refusing to bow to the RSS philosophy. The bullets of RSS and Modi can never crush the spirit of Tamil people. Tamil brothers and sisters, we are with you," Rahul said in a tweet in Tamil.

The RSS rejected Rahul's allegations as "untrue".

"This is untrue and bereft of facts. We strongly condemn such irresponsible utterings of Congress and Rahul Gandhi," RSS joint secretary Manmohan Vaidya said in a statement.

Rahul also tagged a video of a Dalit person being flogged in Rajkot saying it was a result of the ideology of hate being spread by the RSS.

"This shocking video is a result of the Manuvadi thinking. Before this disease spreads further in our country, we have to stop this. We will all together defeat this repressive thought of the BJP/RSS. It is time for change," he tweeted in Hindi.

The BJP hit back saying Rahul was hiding his failures behind the veil of launching attacks on the RSS.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra attacked the Congress president for drawing the RSS into the Thoothukudi incident and said it showed his "inexperience and immaturity".

"You can inherit presidency of a party but you cannot inherit wisdom and understanding," Patra said.
