The body of a 32-year-old software engineer was found at a flat in south-east Delhi’s Jamia Nagar on Tuesday.

Initial investigations have ruled out foul play.

Not having come across him for over two continuous days, a neighbour had gone to knock at the victim’s door. Instead, he felt foul smell emanating from the flat owned by the victim’s brother.

The victim, Ziauddin, lived there alone and was looking for a job for the past few months, a police officer associated with the probe said.

Police were informed and they broke open the door to find Ziauddin’s body lying in a room. “It had decomposed a little, so we estimate that he died about two or three days earlier. There were no injury marks on his body,” the officer told Deccan Herald.

The victim’s family has been contacted and they told police that Ziauddin wasn’t responding to their phone calls, which also made them worried.

“He was not in good health for the past two years. His family suspected that he died of urinary infection. We have sent the body for post-mortem and will know the exact cause once the report arrives,” the officer said.

Though police said there appears to be no foul play, they are questioning the victim’s neighbours and family members.
