The UN General Assembly is scheduled to hold next week informal consultations on a draft resolution titled 'International Day of Yoga,' an idea that was floated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his maiden address to the 193-member world body last month.

According to information on the UN website, two-hour long informal consultations on the draft resolution entitled 'International Day of Yoga' have been convened by the Permanent Mission of India on October 14.

The scheduling of discussions at the UN on Yoga comes in just a little over two weeks after Modi had asked the world leaders to adopt an International Yoga Day in his address to the UN General Assembly on September 27.

He had said that by changing lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help us deal with climate change.

"Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day," Modi had said. "Yoga embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well being."
