Maggi noodles may soon be banned in Uttar Pradesh as high levels of monosodium glutamate (MSG) and lead were found in Maggi samples. The samples which were tested in a Kolkata lab with further tests also being ordered.
Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety in Uttar Pradesh said that the samples were tested in a Kolkata lab and showed added MSG and lead reported IBNLIVE.
Nestle which manufactures Maggi, released this statement with regard to the issue reported NDTV, "We do not add Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) to Maggi Noodles. We use raw materials that may contain naturally occurring Glutamate and which could be confused with commercially produced MSG. Glutamate is safe and is found in everyday and high protein foods including tomatoes, peas, paneer, onions, milk."
