Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre has been able to reduce terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, insurgency in the North-East and Maoist activities.

"In the last three years we have taken lot of steps. We are taking several proactive steps," Modi said after commissioning INS Kalvari, the first of the Scorpene-class submarines, at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.

The prime minister told top brass of the armed forces that his government was "looking at synergy of defence power, economic power, technological power and the power of public confidence."
