Industrialists and businesses in Karnataka have requested the government to encourage manufacturing in the State, so as to foster employment opportunities and subsequent economic growth.
Addressing delegates at a seminar on Manufacturing, Employment and Economic Growth in Karnataka, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Karnataka State Council, CII Chairman (Southern Region) Navas Meeran said that the revenue generated by the manufacturing industry in the South is around $430 billion in 2011 and is estimated to be $853 billion by 2020, a release said.
Meeran urged the Karnataka government to focus on a few points aimed at creating a conducive environment in the State, including enhancing ease of doing business.
