Centre plans 30 mega food parks

The food processing industry has emerged as a priority sector for the Centre, which has approved 30 mega food parks around the country under the Mega Food Parks Scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 7,000 crore.

Addressing delegates at the “Mega Food Parks: Investment Destination” summit, organised by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) and Assocham in Bangalore on Tuesday, MoFPI Secretary Rakesh Kacker said, “Around 30 mega food parks have been approved by the government, which will come up across the country. Of these, seven are already in their finishing stages.” One of the parks will be set up in Tumkur, Karnataka.
