With the crisis at India’s second largest IT company Infosys bulging, both Central and State governments have advised the company to sort out their issues at the earliest.
Ravi Venkatesan, company’s co-chairman, who held the meeting with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday, has been advised by the latter to sort out the issues at the earliest, according to sources.
Jaitley is said to have told Venkatesan, in a one-on-one meeting, that this controversy is harmful for all and there needs an immediate truce on the issue. As per the official sources in the Finance Ministry, the Secratary Ministry of Corporate Affairs Tapan Ray and Director General Corporate Affairs (DGCoA) N K Bhola have also held separate meetings with Venkatesan on Monday, who was accompanied by two other directors of the IT major.
Karnataka’s IT and BT minister Priyank Kharge told DH that he wanted the issue to be settled at the earliest, as according to him companies like Infosys, Wipro, and Biocon are part of “Bengaluru’s business DNA”.
He, however, negated any impact of development on the the inflow of FDI into the state.
Declining to intervene in the issue, he said, “Every company has board room issues. But the companies like Infosys and Tata are considered high on the integrity. So in their case, the things tend to get more lime light.”
He also said that state government is observing things at the moment. The allegations and counter allegations from both sides are running high in wake of the resignation by Vishal Sikka.
