FDA gives nod to Lupin for launching oral contraceptives

Leading Indian pharmaceutical maker Lupin Limited announced on Thursday that its American subsidiary has gained approval from the US Food and Drugs Administration to market Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol tablets, generic equivalent of Teva’s Seasonale Tablets.

The two tablets are a combined oral contraceptive indicated for the prevention of pregnancy in women who elect to use oral contraceptives as a method of contraception, a company release said on Thursday.
