The foreign currency assets increased to US$264.942-billion from US$263.465-billion in the previous week, the RBI said in its weekly data.

Foreign currency assets expressed in US dollar terms include the effect of appreciation or depreciation of non-US currencies (such as Euro, Sterling, Yen) held in reserves, the central bank said. The gold reserves in the period stood unchanged at US$10.316-billion.


The Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) increased by US$35 million to US$5.235 billion in the week as compared to US$5.200-billion in the previous week. The country’s reserves position in the International Monetary Fund rose by US$9 million to US$1.368 billion as against US$1.359 billion, the central bank said.
