With the unveiling of its new series of motorcycles, Hero MotoCorp is upbeaten in achieving its domestic sales target of 9 million units by 2017.

“We have capacities in place. We will push for that. In the Indian market, conditions should improve,” Pawan Munjal, CMD, Hero MotoCorp, said.

“On the export front, we are expanding our markets too,” he said, adding that Hero plans to enter 50 markets by 2020.

He said the company has a healthy ‘pipeline’ of products and will step up launches to buffer the impact of US technology partner and bike maker Erik Buell Racing declaring bankruptcy, last year.

The world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer unveiled its first in-house developed motorcycle, Splendor iSmart 110, at the 13th Auto Expo here.

The firm also unveiled three other vehicles — premium segment sports bike Xtreme 200 S, design concept bike XF3R and an electric scooter concept Duet-E.

Splendor iSmart 110 is the company’s first completely in-house-developed motorcycle, since separating from erstwhile partner Honda.

Last year, the company had launched two scooters, Maestro Edge and Duet, which were one of the first products to have been developed by Hero on new platforms through its in-house technology.

“After achieving a significant milestone in our solo journey last year, with the successful launch of the first of our in-house-developed scooters, we are now setting sights on developing smarter products for a global audience,” Munjal said.

The company said the four products unveiled at the expo have been developed keeping in mind, both the domestic as well as global markets.
