After the Centre's warning against trading in crypotocurrency, the Income Tax Department has now got active and has sought data from states about investors of bitcoin and the size of their trade.

Recently, a survey was also done about bitcoin exchanges in states like UP and Haryana to ascertain the kind of transactions involved in the trade of the cryptocurrency.

The Centre has still not issued any regulations against its trade, nor has it come out with measures to curb it. But Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had recently said that regulation for its trade is being worked out.

Jaitley had also informed Parliament that the RBI had not issued any licenses to operate with cryptocurrencies in the country.
