Indian stocks are best performers

The second best five-year return of 43.7 per cent was given by China, followed by 35.5 per cent in Indonesia and 25.6 per cent in South Korea, the Survey said. This is the first time that the Indian stock market has posted a better return than any other markets from 2003-end levels.  During 2008, the decline in indices was seen across the Asian stock markets, with the SSE Composite Index( Shanghai, China) recording a fall of 65.4 per cent to 1,821 points at end of December 2008. While the BSE Sensex was lower by 52.4 per cent to 9,647 points at end of December 2008 against 20,287 at the end of 2007, the survey said.
