Besides planning to hire 20,000 freshers during the fiscal 2017, Infosys on Friday announced an average salary hike in the range of 6-12% with effect from April 1, 2016, for its workforce below the managerial level in India. The company is also planning to offer equity to incentivise top performers.

Infosys president and COO Pravin Rao said the fresh hiring will be from colleges and institutes across the country. “We have made 20,000 campus offerings by conducting interviews at various institutes to hire freshers for this fiscal and ramp up our headcount,” said Rao. Last fiscal, the company hired 17,857 employees.

On the salary hike, Rao said it will be based on the performance and did not specify the percentage hike in salary for top performers. Last year, the company gave an average wage hike of 6.5% and top performers received 9%.

Rao said the company is still working out details of the Restricted Stock Unit programme for the employees and its eligibility criteria. Meanwhile, it has elevated three executive vice presidents Mohit Joshi, Ravi Kumar S and Sandeep Dadlani as new presidents of the company with immediate effect.
