The rupee declined marginally by two paise to 62.14 per dollar in the late morning trade on mild dollar demand from banks and importers on the back of higher dollar overseas.

The Indian unit resumed slightly higher at 62.11 per dollar as against the last weekend's level of 62.12 on the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) Market and hovered in a restricted range of 62.10-62.15 per dollar before quoting at 62.14 per dollar at 1045hrs.

In New York market, the U.S. dollar rose against the Japanese yen and Canadian dollar last Friday as investors considered another piece of U.S. housing data that missed expectations.

Meanwhile, the Indian benchmark sensex declined by 17.50 points or 0.08 per cent to 20,683.25 at 1045hrs.
