SABIC in pact with research institutes

SABIC, the Saudi Arabia-based $50.40 billion giant petrochemical company, on Thursday announced its strategic collaboration with the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

Signing the agreement, SABIC Executive Vice President Ernesto Occhiello said collaborative research  projects are essential components of the company’s global programme. “Through this partnership, SABIC will be able to leverage these institutions’ multidisciplinary research capabilities for the benefit of our nation. These collaborations will create a value-added ecosystem involving science and technology institutions, talent, industry, and consumers, to benefit all.”

Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals Secretary Surjith K Chaudhar said the collaboration with CEPIT will take polymer and plastics industries a step forward. “This partnership will translate innovations and technologies for rapid growth. It will be in line with the Prime Minister’s ‘Make in India’ campaign.”
