The annual expenditure will be funded through budgetary support of almost Rs 2.52 lakh crore in FY26, against a revised budgetary support of Rs 2.52 lakh crore for FY25, documents show.
The FM did not talk about the railways in her speech.

Even the railway ministry's internal and extra-budgetary resources (IEBR) remained unchanged at Rs 13,000 crore crore in 2025-26 from Rs 13,000 crore in 2024-25. IEBR includes funds raised through various financing sources, including that through IRFC for capex deployment.

However, the allocation in the National High Speed Rail Corporation remains the same at Rs 19,000 crore.
According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the total budget is Rs 2.64 lakh crore when PPP investments are combined.

"New projects worth Rs 4.6 lakh crore have been included and they will be completed in four to five years. These are related to laying of new lines, doubling, quadrupling, new constructions, station redevelopment, flyover, underpasses, among many others,"  Vaishnaw said.

A total of 100 Amrit Bharat, 50 Namo Bharat, and 200 Vande Bharat — both sleepers as well as chair car variants — will be manufactured in the next two to three years. Vaishnaw said 17,500 general coaches have been approved for manufacturing in the coming years.
