Parliament Highlights: Lok Sabha adjourned after discussion on Airfare Regulatory Board Bill; both Houses to resume proceedings on July 29
Good afternoon readers. Lok Sabha was adjourned till 12:30 pm after ruckus erupted in the House as BJP and Congress leaders locked horns over Valmiki 'scam' issue. The topic also found mention in the Rajya Sabha along with MUDA 'scam' leading to the Congress' retaliation. Discussions on the budget continued in Parliament while Private Members' Bills were introduced in LS. The protest on the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2022 also led to the Rajya Sabha being adjourned for an hour as Sanjay Singh of AAP tweeted about BJP being anti-OBC that sparked a debate on House discipline. Key issues discussed included the Budget allocations and private members' bills even as the Opposition kept the heat on when it came to the Agnipath/Agniveer schemes. Parliament Highlights: House adjourned for the day amidst ruckus caused by Abhijit Gangopadhyay's remarks
Hello readers! The Parliament and its premises today are buzzing with activity as I.N.D.I.A. bloc MPs are protesting against what they perceive is a 'discriminatory' Budget. The Oppn bloc claims that huge chunks of money was granted to Andhra Pradesh and Bihar in order to keep the BJP's allies—TDP and JD(U)—happy, since this time the Modi govt needs their support to stay in power. TMC's Abhishek Banerjee and Sagrika Ghose gave powerful speeches in their respective houses, against the govt and budget. Supriya Sule also presented a number of questions for the govt to answer while Shashi Tharoor and SP's Dharmendra Yadav slammed the govt and its 2024 budget. At the end of the session, in his maiden speech, BJP's Abhijit Gangopadhyay told the interrupters of his speech to not speak like 'stupid people' and keep their 'mouth shut', with the opposition causing ruckus in the house in reaction to it, as the house adjourned. Thank you for following along with today's parliament sessions Follow DH for the latest updates from India and around the world.
