Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Saturday asked voters to send UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to his mutt, alleging that he nurses grudge against the Muslims and ignored the poor due to his "casteist narrow-mindedness".
"Send Yogiji back to his mutt, to his family. He had made big promises but the implementation was negligible. Due to his casteist narrow-mindedness, he ignored the development of the SC/ST community and extremely backward people," the former UP CM alleged.
BJP president JP Nadda alleged on Saturday that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav never thought about the poor as he was born with a silver spoon.
He also accused the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister of trying to shield terrorists.
About two dozen BJP and SP supporters were booked and nine arrested for allegedly clashing with each other in Khudadat village of Matera assembly constituency, police said on Saturday.
A senior police officer said the fight broke out Friday night between supporters of SP candidate Madhuri Verma and BJP candidate Arunveer Singh outside a ‘dhaba’.
The opposition Congress and BJP, which leads the ruling alliance since 2017, has decided not to project a CM candidate ahead of elections despite having Okram Ibobi Singh and NBiren Singh as the tallest leader in their respective camp.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said the Uttar Pradesh Assemblypollsare for saving democracy and the country’s Constitution, which will be "destroyed" by the BJP if it returns to power in the state.
In an apparent jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yadav said though the BJP government talks about "sabka saath, sabka vikas", its people are backward only in documents and not by birth.
These elections are for saving democracy and the Constitution, he said. If the BJP comes to power, it will destroy both, Yadav alleged in an election rally here.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday blamed the politics of caste and religion for the ‘dismal' state of affairs in Uttar Pradesh and said the non-Congress governments for three decades had done nothing except tall claims of development.
