As TV screens flashed the news of Manish Sisodia's loss from his Jangpura seat in the Delhi elections, the wife of former AAP leader and poet Kumar Vishwas burst into tears. But it was not out of sympathy.
Speaking to the media on his wife's reaction to Sisodia's loss, Vishwas said, "When we got the news of Manish [Sisodia] losing from Jangpura, my wife, who is apolitical, started crying," as per an NDTV report.
Explaining the same, Vishwas recounted an old conversation which he said reeked of arrogance—"When Mr Sisodia was once told by my wife that 'Bhaiya, you are not always going to be in power', Manish Sisodia shot back saying 'Abhi toh hai [I am in power today]," the former AAP leader said.
"I have no sympathy for a man who crushed the dreams of AAP party workers. Delhi is now free of him... He used those dreams for his personal ambitions. Today, justice has been delivered. I hope others will not display this arrogance. Other parties will learn and profit from it. I congratulate the citizens of Delhi," Vishwas further said.
The former AAP leader ended with an emotional appeal to party workers, saying, "You all have worked for someone who stabbed his friends in the back, cheated his guru for his personal agenda. Step out and watch out for yourself."
Sisodia, Kejriwal's right hand man, was jailed in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam last year, and lost his seat to BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah by a slim margin of 675 votes.
The elections in Delhi this time saw the AAP routed after over a decade, with the BJP sweeping the national capital and bagging 48 of 70 seats. The AAP managed just 22, while the Congress failed to open its account.
