Kejriwal, who had dramatically resigned from the CM's position and handed over reins to Atishi after his release from custody in the Delhi liquor policy case, will not be able to be an MLA this time, let alone fulfil his dream of returning to power in the national capital.

While the BJP is poised for a comfortable win, Kejriwal is losing to BJP's Verma by close to 4,000 votes.

Earlier, Manish Sisodia, who has also spent time behind bars in connection to the same case, conceded defeat to his Jangpura constituency opponent Tarvinder Singh Marwah of the BJP.

Among senior AAP leaders, Atishi might be the one who manages to win her seat. She is currently leading in Kalkaji constituency by 989 votes.

Ahead of the elections, both parties engaged in a high-octane campaign, with Arvind Kejriwal and Narendra Modi both vying for middle-class votes -- though the BJP is likely to have gotten an edge after the govt at a central level introduced tax relief for the middle class in the Budget presented on Feb 1.

Delhi Assembly Election 2025 | Counting is underway for the Delhi assembly elections. The first of two state assembly polls this year sees a contest between AAP and BJP in the nation's capital. AAP decided to contest the polls alone, causing rumours of a rift in I.N.D.I.A. BJP, meanwhile, is hoping the liquor excise policy scam and pollution in Delhi will give the saffron party an edge over AAP. Kejriwal, on the other hand, has different plans with his demand for reservations for Delhi Jats. Congress will also be looking to make its presence felt and has not held back from attacking its own alliance partner.
