Counting for all 70 seats of Delhi was completed on Saturday, and saw pollsters' predictions of an AAP defeat coming true.

Ahead of the elections, both parties engaged in a high-octane campaign, with Arvind Kejriwal and Narendra Modi both vying for middle-class votes -- though the BJP is likely to have gotten an edge after the govt at a central level introduced tax relief for the middle class in the Budget presented on Feb 1.

AAP, meanwhile, had to battle a setback to its image courtesy of the liquor excise policy scam which saw heavyweights like Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia spend time behind bars in Tihar.

Development woes, air pollution, and cleaning the Yamuna became talking points ahead of the polls, with all three major contestants relying on election freebies to make their pitch. As BJP looks to clinch Delhi from AAP, Congress -- the latter's national ally -- is a distant third. The grand old party decided not to join hands with AAP and contest the Delhi polls alone, but the comeback it was hoping for does not seem to have materialised.
