West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a national level debate on the work that the BJP government has done in the past five years.
Banerjee was addressing a meeting held in support of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu here in which Aam Aadmi Party Chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also participated.
Mamata, in a passionate speech laced with a bit of Bengali, said that she will ask questions and challenged the PM to answer without looking a teleprompter.
Ridiculing Modi for being afraid to face the media, she said “You blame opposition leaders of corruption but never open your mouth on Rafale scam” She also said the BJP will not cross the 125 seat mark in the ensuing elections.
Modi, she said, scares many states, including Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala by misusing institutions like the Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate.
Referring to the raids on opposition leaders, the TMC leader wondered if BJP leaders are not committing frauds and mistakes. “The chaiwaala became chowkidar. Chowkidar to loot the country. Chowkidar not for the country.”
Earlier, Delhi CM Kejriwal called upon the people to save the nation from the duo. “There will be no constitution and there will be no more elections if Modi and Shah return to power,” he said.
TDP chief Naidu said that Modi has cheated the people of Andhra Pradesh by not granting Special category status. He also held Congress responsible for not doing its bit when it was in power.
