No party in Meghalaya seems to be set to get a clear majority, with the NPP winning 20 seats and leading in 5, and the UDP winning 11.
In the 60-seat Assembly constituency, 31 seats are required for a party to get a majority mark.
As of 5.15 pm, the NPP had secured wins in 19 seats, while the UDP had secured 11.
While the Congress and the TMC managed wins in 5 and 4 seats respectively, the BJP fared poorly, getting wins in just two seats.
As of 4 pm, the NPP had won 16 seats in 60-seat Assembly in Meghalaya, while the UDP had bagged 9.
The TMC and Congress have won 3 and 4 seats respectively, while the Voice of the People Party has won 3. Two Independent candidates have aslo secured victories in two seats, while the HSPDP has bagged 2.
The BJP, however, is yet to open its account.
As of 1.30 pm, the NPP had secured victories in five seats while the UDP won in two seats, as per the ECI. The TMC, which had given indications of a strong performance in early trends, managed to secure a victory in only one seat. The Congress, too, managed to win one seat, while the BJP had won none.
Coming One Ymbon, the NPP candidate from Raliang, defeated the BJP's Lakhaon Biam by a margin of 5,337 votes, the ECI announced.

Amid the ongoing vote counting in Meghalaya, the Conrad Sangma-led National People's Party (NPP) is leading. But it might not be able to touch the magic figure to form the government and may need the support of another party.
In this scenario, the chances of the NPP joining hands with the BJP to form the next government is quite high.

The NPP surged to a lead in 25 seats as of 10.30 am, while the TMC's lead fell to 7 seats. The Congress meanwhile, is leading in 5 seats, while the BJP is leading in 5.
NPP chief Conrad Sangma is leading BJP candidate Bernard Marak, who was accused of running a brothel in the run-up to the elections, by 44 votes in the South Tura constituency.

As of 9.40 am, the NPP continued its strong early show, with leads in 23 seats, while the TMC surged from an initially poor showing to take a lead in 11 seats.
The BJP, meanwhile, is leading in 10 seats, while the UDP in in the lead in 6 seats. The Congress looks to be headed towards another disappointment and its candidates are leading only in 4 seats.

As of 9 am, early trends indicated that the NPP was leading in 22 seats, the TMC and the BJP in 10 each, the UDP in 8, and the Congress in 7.

Stakes are high for the BJP ahead of the counting of votes on Thursday for three state assembly polls as results will signal if it has deepened its roots in Tripura, a Left bastion captured by the party in 2018, and made further inroads in Meghalayaand Nagaland, or the opposition has managed to dent its influence.
