The Election Commission has issued a notice to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his recent remark referring to Indian Army as “Modiji ki Sena” (Army of Prime Minister Narendra Modi).

The EC asked Yogi Adityanath to respond to its notice by 5 p.m. on April 5.

Adityanath referred to Indian Army as “Modi ji ki Sena” while addressing a rally in favour of the local BJP candidate at Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh had asked the district election officer of Ghaziabad to send a report on the state chief minister's comment.

The Congress alleged that Adityanath's speech had insulted the Indian Army.

The EC had on March 9 issued an advisory asking political parties to refrain from misusing Indian Army, Air Force and Navy as well as paramilitary forces for reaping political dividends during the run up to the Lok Sabha polls.
