Parth Pawar, the third generation member from Pawar family, has entered electoral politics.
On a day of hectic developments, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, who is a Rajya Sabha member, decided not to contest the elections from Madha.
However, the party and family had endorsed the name of Parth Pawar to contest from Maval.
Parth is son of former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.
Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule is an MP from Baramati and she would be contesting the same seat.
The decisions came at a meeting held at the Baramati Hostel in Baramati in Pune district, the bastion of the Pawar family.
