Prime Minister Narendra Modi, removing the prefix "Chowkidar" from his Twitter name said that it is time to take the "Chowkidar spirit" to the next level.
In a previous tweet, he said "the people of India became Chowkidars and rendered great service to the nation. Chowkidar has become a powerful symbol to safeguard India from the evils of casteism, communalism, corruption, and cronyism."

Following suit, the BJP leaders also removed their Chowkidar tag from their twitter handles.
Many party members have taken the prefix down post the retweet on BJP's official twitter handle.
Currently, Narendra Modi is leading with 3,71,784 votes margin over the SP candidate Shalini Yadav in Varanasi.
