Debutant director Mugil takes the well trodden and most safe path of romance as his makes his first shy at boxoffice. Brimming with mushy and maudlin moments, Mugil’s Kanden passes muster as a cushy cupid caper and is bound to go will young adults on date looking out for filmi outing to spend time in togetherness.
Having groomed under dancer-director Prabhudeva, Mugil indeed does his master proud, rendering Kanden an easy on the eyes, cool, breezy and enjoyable entertainer. And as is the norm now-a-days, Kanden has a techie in Vasanth who wants love to happen and wed the girl to whom he loses his heart.
However, as goes with filmi-romances his grand dad, a village panchayt president in village, wants him to marry girl of their village and throws a challenge to his grandson to either bring the girl of his dreams or wed the lass he (grandfather) chooses in a month. Setting foot in Chennai, Vasanth soon sights Narmadha, and dons the garb of blind man to woo and win her over.
However, when truth dawns, she departs. Does he win her back with his sincerity? What’s the twist as the wedding date draws near? To know all, grace Kanden. Shanthanoo easily fits in the skin of a carefree lover lad, while Reshmi too complements him equally as a bubbly lass. Santhanam’s comedy, Vijay Ebenezer’s score and Prashath D Mishale cinematography add lustre to a sizzling script that works. Simply enjoy.
