Nikki Glaser nailed her monologue while hosting the Golden Globes. Her speech was loaded with playful jokes that targeted several high-profile names.
From Leonardo DiCaprio and Kevin Hart to the social media obsessions Jacob Elordi and Paul Mescal, no one was spared in the gig.
Despite the monologue’s success, the ace comedian revealed that the script underwent several last-minute changes, resulting in several jokes being left on the cutting room floor before Sunday’s live broadcast.
Appearing on The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM, the comedian shared insights into her second consecutive year hosting the star-studded ceremony.
Among the jokes Glaser opted not to include on-stage was a jab at Brad Pitt, who was ultimately not one of the night’s nominees and did not attend the award ceremony.
“Brad Pitt is nominated for his role in F1 tonight,” said Nikki. “See, that’s what I love about Hollywood. When a man turns 60, he gets to play a racecar driver. Meanwhile, after 35, every role for a woman is a tired mom who hates her life.”
According to her, CBS News edited out a jab aimed at President Donald Trump (though she did manage to land a joke on Epstein files on the show) “It was like, you just don’t say that guy’s name right now. I just want to give it space,” she explained, seemingly referring to his recent capture of Venezuelan politician Nicolas Maduro.
She was also initially going to include a joke about the “Trump Beverly Hilton,” a play on Trump renaming the Kennedy Space Center, written by Only Murders in the Building’s Steve Martin.
The comedian also made a witty remark on Chase Infiniti and her unique name.
“This is true, if you apply now, you can earn 5 per cent cash back on all travel bookings through her through the end of the year,” Nikki said.
Before she took the stage to roast Leonardo DiCaprio’s dating life and share her hilarious 'obsession' with Michael B. Jordan, Glaser opened up about her strategy.
She told people that she wanted to push past the obvious jokes. Her real mission for the night was to challenge herself to dodge the predictable punchlines and surprise the audience with something they didn't see coming.
