The 78-year-old star, who is wheelchair bound for sometime, checked into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center this week for the ongoing condition, Taylor's representative Jamie Cadwell told CNN.
"This issue is being addressed. She is currently being kept in the hospital for monitoring," he added.
Taylor's publicist, however assured that the actress is doing fine.
"I can assure you she is fine and even better, comfortable," Sally Morrison said.
Taylor took to Twitter to update her fans about her health in 2009 when doctors repaired a leaky heart valve. At that time, the actress said it was like "having a brand new ticker." But she has not been very regular on the microblogging website in recent months.
Taylor's representative has asked "people respect her privacy and allow her medical team the time and space to focus on restoring her back to health."
The actress, one of the most controversial names in showbiz, won Academy award twice for her performances in 1060 film 'Butterfield 8' and 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' in 1966.
However, more than her movie career, Taylor is famous for her eight marriages, including two to Richard Burton, and her battles with substance abuse and physical ailments.
