The actor who portrays an innocent man thrown into prison in his upcoming film 'Jail', said that it was a new and exciting experience for him.

"It was an exciting experience coming here because we don't know what happens inside the four walls of a jail and have false perceptions about it. The atmosphere here was very different from what we expected," said Neil who sang one of his grandfather Mukesh's most popular songs, 'Zindagi Khwab Hai', for the prisoners.

The 27-year-old actor who made his debut with 'Johnny Gaddar', also had lunch with the inmates along with his co-star Manoj Bajpai and director Madhur Bhandarkar. "The inmates were really excited about the stars' arrival and it is good for them because Bollywood actors work as a role model for them," Sunil Gupta, Public Relations Officer, Tihar Jail said.

The film directed by three time National Award winning director Bhandarkar, had grabbed headlines when it was revealed that Neil had stripped naked for one of it's scenes. The actor who said that he felt like a "pigeon in a cage" while shooting for the film in real prisons across Maharashtra, also released caged birds as a symbolic gesture.
