Commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement about film industry portraying police in the poor light, actor Akshay Kumar said films should not be taken so seriously.
"I have played a cop in many films portraying them in the right way. And sometimes it is just a character and not be taken seriously," Akshay told media, when he was asked does he agreed with PM Modi's statement.
Akshay Kumar has essayed a role of an honest and patriotic police officer in movies like 'Khakee', 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari' and 'Rowdy Rathore.'

Last week, PM Modi expressed his displeasure over film industry’s portrayal of the police force in movies, saying cinema has created a bad image of police in minds of the public.
"The film industry has created a very bad image of the police in the minds of the common man and I ask them-why? Yes, there may be a some shortcomings but should only that be highlighted? Is it not our duty to remove these shortcomings by bringing into light the positive and good things," he said.
"The image of films on the common man is immense and without their cooperation, policing cannot be successful", he added.
Currently Akshay is awaiting the release of 'Baby', a spy-thriller directed by Neeraj Pandey, which is scheduled to hit the theaters on Jan 23 next year.
