Pop icon Madonna's note, in which she described Whitney Houston and Sharon Stone as "horribly mediocre", is set to be auctioned and it is expected to fetch USD 3,000-5,000.

The 58-year-old songstress had penned the letter in the 1990s, addressed to a person identified as 'J', the contents of which show she was jealous of the success of these two Hollywood divas, reported PageSix.

"It's so unequivocally frustrating to read that Whitney Houston has the music career I wish I had and Sharon Stone has the film career I'll never have.

"Not because I want to be these women — because I'd rather die, but they're so horribly mediocre and they're always being held up as paragons of virtue (or) some sort of measuring stick to humiliate me," the note read.

The letter was provided to the online auction site GottaHaveRockAndRoll.com for sale by Madonna's former art curator Darlene Lutz.

The "Material Girl" hitmaker had sued Lutz in 2005 for breach of contract.
