Mollywood screenwriter Murali Gopy took to Facebook on Monday to announce that he will be teaming up with actor Mammootty for a movie, which will be helmed by debutant Shibu Basheer. He shared a photo in which he is seen alongside the 'Megastar' and producer Vijay Babu.
The film, which marks Murali Gopy's first collaboration with Mammootty, will be shot on a big budget and is likely to go on the floors sometime next year.
Murali Gopy, meanwhile, is going through a busy phase on the work front. He is scripting the eagerly-awaited movie L2: Empuraan. The magnum opus is a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifier and stars Mohanlal in the lead. Fans feel that it might be 'massier' than the first part if the execution is up to the mark. The film is, either way, expected to throw more light on the character of Ibrahim Qureshi.

Murali Gopy will also be penning Theerpu, which will reunite him with Kammara Sambavam helmer Rathish Ambat. The film stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead.
Mammootty, on the other hand, remains a force to be reckoned with despite the emergence of younger stars. The mass hero, who was last seen in the action-packed movie Shylock, is gearing up for the release of The Priest. The film, touted to be a horror-thriller, has created a fair deal of buzz among fans as it marks his first collaboration with 'Lady Superstar' Manju Warrier. It is slated to hit the screens on March 4.
Mammootty was supposed to begin work on Amal Neerad's Bilal, a sequel to the cult film Big B. The project, however, did not take off due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The two recently joined hands for Bheeshma Parvam, which features the Uncle star in a new avatar. The veteran star will also be teaming up with Mohanlal for a multi-starrer.
