''Mrs de I owe you an apology for getting personal. I'm ashamed for my momentary lapse in judgement. And apologetic.. Every writer and journalist and audience are entitled to their opinion and I respect that," Sonam wrote on her Twitter account.

Sonam, had retweeted a statement made by Punit Malhotra, director of her latest film 'I Hate Luv Storys', who was upset by Shobha's review of his directorial debut.

The tweet read, "Guys pls don't take Shobha De seriously. She's a fossil who's getting no action and going through menopause. So just for her (sic)"

Apart from slamming the film, Shobha had written about "spanking" Malhotra in public for making a film like 'I Hate Luv Stories' in her review.

Meanwhile, Shobha had reacted in her blog and said, "Unfortunately, the current generation of Bollywood brats in their monumental arrogance and limited intelligence forget that not all journalists are purchasable commodities. And if their film is a turkey, that's what it is going to be labeled."

"These immature, spoilt filmi kids should take their cues from someone like a Karan Johar, who is their ultimate guru. You'll never find this guy descending to pathetically low levels and trashing critics," she added.

The war-of-words between Sonam and Shobha is not new as the actress had earlier called the columnist a "60-something porn writer".

The controversy stirred up last year when Shobha had commented on Sonam's sex appeal while referring to the actress' picture in ligerie and said, "Sonam just doesn't cut it in the sex appeal stakes."
