Director Jeethu Joseph took to Instagram on Saturday (February 20) to announce that he will be teaming up with ace actor Venkatesh for Drushyam 2, a remake of the filmmaker's recently-released movie Drishyam 2. The project, which will mark the Memories helmer's Tollywood debut, is likely to go on the floors sometime next month.
His comments come at a time when Drishyam 2 has received rave reviews for its engaging plot and gripping screenplay. The Malayalam movie, featuring Mohanlal in the lead, revolves around a cable operator-turned-producer's attempts at coming to terms with an incident from the past. It is a sequel to the 2013 cult hit Drishyam, which was remade in Telugu as Drushyam with 'Venky Mama' essaying the lead role.
The Tollywood version was directed by actor Sripriya and received rave reviews with critics describing it as a 'faithful remake'. It remains to be seen whether Drushyam 2 lives up to the standards set by the prequel.
Venkatesh, meanwhile, is going through a terrific phase on the work front and remains a force to be reckoned with despite the emergence of younger stars. He teamed up with 'Mega Prince' Varun Tej for the Sankranti hit F2, adding a new dimension to his career. The veteran was last seen in the emotional drama Venky Mama, co-starring Naga Chaitanya, which did well at the box office despite receiving mixed reviews.

He will next be seen in the Srikanth Addala-helmed Narappa, a remake of the Dhanush-starrer Asuran. The film is expected to have socio-political undertones and a dark narrative. It is slated to hit the screens in May. He is also working on the eagerly-awaited movie F3, a sequel to the previously-mentioned F2. The general perception is that these films are likely to help him consolidate his standing in the industry.
Jeethu, on the other hand, has expressed a desire to make a sequel to Papanasam, the Tamil version of Drishyam. There have also been talks of him taming up with Ajay Devgn for the Hindi remake of Drishyam 2.
