JOIN USGeorgekutty still a mystery, can relate to only family bonding: Mohanlal on 'Drishyam 2'
Malayalam actor Mohanlal says that his character in the upcoming movie Drishyam 2 was an absolute 'mystery' for him as the powerhouse performer could not relate to or associate with his reel actions.
"Georgekutty remains a mystery for me especially because of his actions in the film (Drishyam 2). He is completely different from Mohanlal in every way possible. I could not really relate with him, except for the family bonding (his bond with the family)," he told DH during an interaction with the media.
Drishyam 2, directed by Jeethu Joseph, is a thriller that revolves around the journey of a cable operator-turned- producer. It is a sequel to the 2013 release Drishyam, which emerged as a big hit while receiving rave reviews from critics. The previous film had a captivating plot that highlighted a protective father's attempts at saving his family from a threat. The film was remade in multiple languages, becoming a pan-India brand.
It remains to be seen whether Drishyam 2 lives up to the expectations set by the first film. The film has a strong cast that includes Meena, Esther Anil and Ansiba Hassan. The film is slated to release directly on Amazon Prime Video on Jan. 19, skipping the theatrical route.
Mohanlal, meanwhile, is going through a busy phase on the work front. The 'Complete Actor' will soon be seen in the pan-India movie Marakkar, which revolves around the journey of a naval admiral. The period-drama has a star-studded cast that includes 'Action King' Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Keerthy Suresh and 'Lady Superstar' Manju Warrier.
The Oppam actor also has the Malayalam movie Aaraattu, co-starring Shraddha Srinath, in his kitty. The film has piqued the curiosity of fans as it features him in a new avatar.
There have also been talks of Mohanlal reuniting with Janatha Garage co-star Jr. NTR for a Telugu movie to be helmed by Trivikram Srinivas.
