The number of singles in Finland has doubled over the past thirty years. Working age singles living without a family are also on the rise, Xinhua reported.

Staying single has become common in Finland. Being single has become one of life's many phases for many people. Young adults are choosing to settle down later and later in life, and the average age at which people marry has increased by two years.

In Helsinki, capital of Finland, there are more working-age women than men. On the other hand, the situation is reverse in rural areas, where more men are now preferring to stay single.
