While dismissing an appeal by the convicts, a bench headed by Justice Arijit Pasayat said: “The impugned judgement cannot be said to be suffering from infirmity to warrant interference. The appeal fails and is dismissed.’’

Yeduguri Sandinti Raja Reddy, YSR’s father, was waylaid and killed using bombs on May 23, 1998 at Vemula village of Pulivendla constituency in Kadapa district during the TDP rule. He was going from YSR Estates at Idupulapaya to Pulivendula.

The apex court, in appreciation of evidence produced by the prosecution, found that there was no reason to interfere with the findings and reasoning recorded by the High Court. The prosecution had proved that the murder was the result of a factional feud.

Though the sessions court had acquitted the killers, the Andhra Pradesh High Court reversed the acquittal and imposed life term on them. The convicts had challenged this order before the Supreme Court.

Out of the 15 accused, two died while two others were excluded from the list of accused by the CID.
