At least 17 persons were killed and nearly 15 others injured when a truck dashed a barricade at Khandala on the Pune-Satara highway in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The victims are said to be labourers and daily wage earners from neighbouring Karnataka.
According to initial reports, the driver lost control of the wheels and dashed the divider.
