2 injured as Pak troops violate ceasefire on IB

After more than a month-long lull, Pakistani troops violated ceasefire along the International Border (IB) in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir, injuring two civilians on Saturday.

Reports said Pakistani troops resorted to heavy shelling of 82- and 51-mm mortars and firing of automatic weaponry on at least a dozen Border Outposts and civilian areas between Basantar and Treva along the IB in Samba sector of Jammu district since 10:25 pm on Friday.

Officials said two civilians identified as Surinder and Rohit were injured due to the shelling. Sources said Pakistani Rangers first opened firing at Mangu Chak in Samba sector at 5.10 pm on Friday.
