A special court on Friday fixed January 27, 2015 for recording of evidence of five additional prosecution witnesses whom the central bureau of investigation (CBI) wanted to be examined in the court in the main case of the 2G spectrum allocation scam.

The day was scheduled for final arguments in the case. Special CBI Judge OP Saini, however, deferred it and posted the case for deposition of additional prosecution witnesses next month.

Even as the evidence was closed in the case and the matter was fixed for final arguments, the court had earlier allowed recording of these additional witnesses and examination of some more documents on a CBI plea.

In its order on November 19, the court had, however, suggested the CBI that it should stop bringing such plea before it, reminding the prosecution that “frequent and fragmentary” filing of documents do cause “anxiety and uncertainty” in a trial, if not prejudice to the accused.
