“Everyone is waiting for the HC decision. It should not be delayed further,” said Prof SC Tiwari, head of Economics department at Ram Manohar Lohia Awadh University, Faizabad.
He said people of the twin towns, Ayodhya-Faizabad, bore the brunt of the dispute’s impact. “There is curfew-like situation in Ayodhya every time the matter is raised. Once HC delivers its verdict, things will become quite clear.”
Local businessman Janmaijay Tripathi said his trade was worst affected for the past one week, first due to the HC decision to pronounce the verdict on Sept 24 and then because of its deferment. “The number of visitors have declined affecting our businesses. Only people of the (police and central) force and media are active here for the past few weeks,” he said.
Another shopkeeper Mohammad Marrof echoed similar sentiments saying that HC should deliver its verdict so that the picture becomes clear. Blaming the political parties for making the matter from “bad to worse,” he said the HC verdict will bring all speculation and rumour mongering to a close.
